Well, would you believe it? Five years ago today, I embarked on one of the most exciting (and slightly terrifying) journeys of my life: becoming part of Worth Recruiting, a new Property Recruitment company, launched on 1st July 2020 by Guy and Pascale Hodge
And, as if the universe decided it needed a little extra sparkle, it also happened to be the very same day my incredible daughter, Sloane, decided to make her grand entrance into the world!
Five years. It feels like a whirlwind of late nights, early mornings, countless phone calls, and more coffee than I care to admit. When I look back at that day, with a newborn in one arm and a brand-new business plan in the other, it’s hard not to chuckle. Who needs sleep when you have dreams, right?
Sloane, bless her cotton socks, has been my parallel universe's success story. In her five short years, she's mastered the art of wobbly first steps, evolved from adorable babbling to full-blown conversations (often correcting my grammar, I might add!). She's conquered the terrifying beast that is a two-wheeled bicycle, learned to dance with wild abandon, started school with a backpack bigger than she is, and even learned to swim like a little fish. Her achievements are pretty astounding when you think about it – pure, unadulterated growth and learning at warp speed.
And then there's Worth Recruiting……
Looking at our own "baby" over these past five years, I'm genuinely bursting with pride (and maybe a little bit of exhaustion). When we started, it was just an idea, a passion for connecting great people with fantastic opportunities in the property industry. Today, we've grown into something truly special.
Part of my own personal journey within these five years saw me step into the role of Managing Director in 2024 – a huge milestone that I'm incredibly proud of, and one that has only deepened my commitment to our mission.
We've had the immense privilege of working with over 500 fantastic clients, helping them build their teams and achieve their goals. That's 500 businesses, from nimble start-ups to established industry giants, who put their trust in us. Each one represents a unique challenge, a new relationship, and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Worth Recruiting team.
And the candidates! We've made more than 1200 successful placements. That's over a thousand individuals whose careers we’ve helped shape, whose next big step we've facilitated. From first-time hires to executive leaders, every placement is a reminder of the impact we have on people's lives, and that's something truly humbling.
What's even more humbling? Receiving 440 five-star Google reviews from those we've worked with. That's a lot of happy people, and it truly means the world to us.
Behind every single one of those placements and client relationships are the countless conversations, the careful vetting, and the genuine care we put into our work. We’ve arranged over 7000 interviews – yes, you read that right, seven thousand! – each one an opportunity to understand someone's aspirations, their strengths, and where they can truly thrive. My voice is probably a little deeper now for it, but worth it!
So, as Sloane blows out her five candles today, probably with more gusto than is strictly necessary, I'll be raising a quiet (and probably decaffeinated) toast to Worth Recruiting. To the incredible team who have worked tirelessly, to our wonderful clients who trust us, and to every candidate who has embarked on a new journey with our help.
It’s been an exhilarating five years of growth, learning, and a fair few scraped knees (both mine, metaphorically, and Sloane’s, literally).
Here’s to many more years of helping careers blossom, companies flourish and watching both my daughter and my business continue to surprise and delight!
